Doctor Doctor

For the last few days I have been having 2 serious symptoms and I have been putting off going to see the doctor. The first one I have had for the last week and it has been getting progressively worse. I been having these sharp stabbing pains that comes in waves in my lower back on the right, right about where my kidneys are. I have been drinking  lots of water but that doesn't seem to help. Then 2 days ago my left arm starting getting a numbness.

Driving home from work, the pain in my side had become excruciating that I drove myself straight to the doctor. My doctor, not taking any chances rushed me to some checks of my heart and kidneys. Thankfully my heart is strong and my kidneys fine. Now my doctor suspects a pinched nerve in my lower back which could be causing the pain and numbness.

Stark Walls

I woke up in the early hours of this morning with this banging in my ears. It was like someone banging on a tin roof next door. Really, at this time of the morning, but it was my heart beat banging so loud in my ears. My nose was all bunged up. So I stumbled up to the kitchen to make some ginger tea and my balance was not so great that I had to use the passage walls to keep from falling. While my tea was drawing, I jumped into the shower.

The ringing in my ears didn't stop.

So off the the doctors, I went. I didn't expect the doctor's rooms to be so stark. Where are the cheerful pictures? Only clinical white with 1 feature wall behind the reception being a bloody red. There wasn't even a clock. The good thing for me was that the waiting area was empty and half and hour later I was in front of a doctor.

Both on Cortisone

The vets wanted Maxy to be dropped off for the day so that they can run a battery of investigative tests to get to the bottom of his continued earache and pain when he opens his mouth. So after dropping him off at Lammermoor Veterinary Clinic, I headed for work not feeling well myself. I managed to get an appointment at the doctors at 10:30am and dutifully arrived 15mins early as one should but what’s up with these doctors thinking that they can consistently be late and patients must just accept it. 11am the doctor finally called me into his room, apologised for being so late then stepped out with an empty coffee mug. 15 mins later his phone started ringing and ringing and ringing and 5 mins later he returned. By 11:45 I was on a bicycle strapped to an ECG machine doing spins. Half an hour later I was back in the doctor’s room. More tests then a cortisone injection and lots of other meds.

So now both Maxy and I are on Cortisone.

Later I went to fetch Maxy at the vet after his day in Doggy Care. I am sorry to say that it is bad news. The vets discovered an aggressive looking node in the base of his ear by the inner ear. It is too deep to get a sample so I am left with two options. Option 1: put Maxy on a course of Cortisone and broad spectrum antibiotics for a week then see if the node reduces or Option 2: Maxy needs to go to an inner ear specialist for them to try removing the mass.

Well my budget can only afford Option 1 and my heart well let’s just say that it is broken.

HEALth WorX

After a terrible feverish weekend, I have been forced to go to see a doctor. As I don’t have a great track record with doctors, the HEALth WorX Medical Centre was recommended to me so off I went, off to see the Doctor at the wonderful world of HEALth WorX.

I must have been spoilt as riding towards Randburg I hit all this rush hour traffic. I must have forgotten what traffic is like as my route from home to work and back never has traffic like this. Thank goodness I am on the Vespa as this would have affected my anxiety levels.

A little while later, while sitting in HEALth WorX's waiting room, I felt this fear of not getting enough oxygen again. Anyway, I eventually go see the doctor and they fear the worse, my heart, so off they rush me to Casualty for a battery of tests. ECG showed that my heart is fine, glucose levels is fine, but blood pressure is sky high and the biggest problem was that my lungs weren’t working correctly. The Lung Function Test showed that I had a lung age of a 70 year old but how can that be as I have never smoked in my life. After all the tests, the doctor has diagnosed that I may have Late Onset Asthma. Weird as this doesn’t take into account my fevers that I’ve been having. Oh dear, just breathe!
