Birthday Hive

Matthew’s birthday is only on Wednesday but the end year exams start the following Monday so he decided to invite a few friends over for some online gaming at the Hive in Montecasnio.

Online gaming for the boys was awesome fun with a few teething problems. After wasting an hour of stop starting they were finial switched to LAN where the boys kicked some Zombie butt for the next two hours. Killing Zombies can be hard work and soon the boys worked up an appetite so they ended off at the spur here in Montecasnio. From left to right are Akanakaishe, Rudolf, Matthew, and Justin.

Acrobranch

This year for Matthew's birthday party, Matthew decided to have zip lines, tarzan swings and rope bridges as part of his fifteenth birthday celebrations. Here at the Melrose Acrobranch 5 friends got together for some adventure in the trees, from left to right is Ricardo, Brandon, Rudolf, Justin and Matthew pausing for a photo opportunity on a rope bridge before swinging to the next tree.

Left 4 Dead 2

Tomorrow is Matthew’s 14th birthday so he and 3 friends had a LAN Party at Zaps in Brightwater Commons. Rudolf, Justin, Nathan and Matthew played the survivors, Nick, Rochelle, Coach and Ellis in the zombie apocalypse game Left 4 Dead 2 or simply known as L4D2. They took on inflected mudmen of the Deep South and came out the other side wielding chainsaws, axes, pipe bombs and all other types of weapons.

The kids had an awesome time while I put my feet up relaxing just out of earshot. This is what parties are all about, kids having fun with minimal input from me other than handing over my bank card.

3 Friends

While I started the long task of refurbishing my own website, Matthew had two friends over for a day of Halo. Here I am trying to distract Rudolf, Matthew and Justin for a photograph but only Justin fell for it. I better get back to work, you know what they say about a mechanic's car, well my website is dire need of a fresh lick of paint.

Gone Camping

Matthew and I were invited to Rudolf's birthday party of a father and son weekend away in the mountains. We joined four other dads and five sons at the Mountain Sanctuary Park in the Magaliesberg Mountains just over an hour's drive from Johannesburg. Armed with our sleeping bags and tent we weren't sure what to expect but we knew that it would be an unforgettable weekend. We arrived at the campsite just after 12pm and I started meeting the other fathers while Matthew already knew some of the boys. After lunch and pitching the tents we hiked up to the Grotto and while the fathers rested the boys played in the waterfall, in the cave behind the waterfall and pools. Here are the boys Calvin, Matthew, Matthew, Sanveer, Herman and Rudolf. We were on top of our rocky world.

A-maze-ing Maze

With a few of Matthew's closest friends we got lost at the maze in Honeydew. Kasmeria, Justin, Matthew and Rudolf separated into two teams and wandered around the maze looking for clues and solving puzzles.
