Be Still

Who would have thought that I would be attending my 3rd memorial service in less than 2 months and that Winnie the Pooh would be quoted from the pulpit, "How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard".

Yes here I am in this church in Florida, saying goodbye to Dawid. I only met Dawid towards the later half of last year and in that short time he made an impact in all the lives he touched. He created the video we used in the Save Black Eagle crowd funding project that we did last year for free, that was the type of person he was, giving and not taking.

The lady who quoted Winnie the Pooh went on to Psalm 46 and I closed my eyes and allowed the words "Be still, and know that I am God". So as I rest up by the river, and say my goodbyes as Dawid crossed over, my mind dwelt in the presence of the Lord Almighty.

Sugarbush

Our first Sugarbush Ridge Coalition meeting took place this afternoon. It was a rush to get from Sandton to the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens but I made it although slightly late at least I beat Andrew who lives on the property as he arrived after me. From left to right are Tony, Belinda, Dawid, Gerald, Johann, and Andreas.

When the Wife Calls

The year is coming to an end fast and year end functions are adding up on the list. Today is SRC's turn and the best place for our final meeting is over beers at Silver Star. Towards the end Andrew's phone rang, it was the missus. Time to finish up our beers and head home.

Fledging

Keep watching this space as the eaglets are about to fledge. Officially we have formed the Sugarbush Ridges Coalition, a group representing the Black Eagles Project, the Botanical Society of South Africa, the Proteadal Conservation Association, and the Wild Orchids of South Africa. Here we have left to right, Bill from WOSA; Gerhard from the Black Eagles; Andrew from SANBI and Proteadal; Johann from BotSoc; Dawid the videographer and director; and Ernest from Black Eagles and photographer. Of course missing from the photograph is me from Proteadal who took this photo and Belinda from Proteadal who is away for personal reasons.

Anyway we have a new project in the pipeline so watch this space as we historically take flight.
