Me Breakfast

Okay it may look like the dog's breakfast and it aren't bacon and eggs but it is my breakfast this morning. Yip trying to be healthy for a change, not easy, but I do my best. This wholesome breakfast is All Brain cereal smothered in double cream strawberry yogurt. Ahhh just what the good doctor ordered for a Monday morning.

Stay Awesome!

Food Blogger

Okay you must have noticed that I aren't a food blogger or though I would loved to be wined and dined at eateries and then write some posts about the experience. Uhmmm my grammar is a bit flawed with way too many ands in that last sentence. Anyways lets get this food post going. Here is my usual start to a working day, a breakfast of All Brain cereal mixed with double cream yogurt.  Yes I don't do low fat foods at all not with my weight.

Ode to Eggs

What's this ode to eggs? I decided that this photo of 2 eggs that I had for breakfast was perfect for my blog. Now for a title after thinking about green eggs and ham by Dr. Seuss, then it just came to me ode to eggs but when I put that title into the internet search, I came up with many odes for eggs results, too many for my liking.

A pat of butter on my toast followed by a pair of farm eggs, freshly collected from the hens outside. Sjoe, these yolks are really yellow and they are so tasty, yum, I love these eggs, I do.

Clean Plate

Yesterday when I went in to get the Brio's licence renewed, I discovered that my Driver's licence had expired, and somehow I have misplaced my Identity Book, I now have to get both. I have to be at the Rand Show at 10ish but I had to pop into a bank first to get all the expired and misplaced legalities rolling but why do they open so late. I decided to have some breakfast while waiting but everything was all closed expect, dread of dreads Spur.

I reluctantly walked in and ordered a Banting looking breakfast off the menu. Not bad but the quality of meat could be better as I am sure that it is starting to repeat on me.

A Lady named Gregg

This morning I had a Proteadal Conservation Association meeting with a socialite called Gregg, a lady who is good at organising large fund raising events. Yes you read correctly, her first name is Gregg and she even showed me her ID when she saw the question in my eyes. Believe me when I tell you she reminded me of the Johnny Cash’s song "A Boy Named Sue" and remembering the song I did not even smile.

For the record, I got on well with her bubbly character, and think with a name like Gregg, she is going places.

Representing the PCA was June, Belinda, and myself at the Cafe Muse just outside the Featherbrooke Estate. I must say it was a good meeting with Gregg, and a Golf Day is planned for February next year to Save the Ridge from developers. The Ridge is the ridge system stretching from Constantia Kloof all the way to Kings Kloof. It is home to a myriad of animals including the nesting Black Eagles at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens. There are also a number of Red Listed plants only found here such as the Albertina Sisulu Orchids with little over 100 left in the world, and right in the path of developers who want to build high density flats. So you can now understand the urgency of trying to save the ridge.

So watch this space for an awesome Golf Day and a lady called Gregg who is moving the earth to #SaveOurRidge

Dominie se Visit

Jon, the pastor at Centre Church, came a house calling this morning at 8am. Now I don’t have a Dominie se Kamer, an Afrikaans traditional 2nd sitting room in the house that is set up for visitors especially the dominie or in English the pastor. A large family bible is normally on display open as if being read and the special room is never used other than for visitors. Now we don’t have one of these special sitting rooms as we live life warts and all.

I did say to Jon, "anytime", and when he said 8am, I answered "how about I do a breakfast?" Awesomeness! Okay I usually cook an awesome breakfast in bed on the weekends, but "in bed" won’t do for the dominie, now will it. So I set up a table on the deck which turned out neat, well in my books it is especially for breaking bread with the dominie.

Once Jon arrived, I made him a lekker cup of Nespresso coffee with frothy milk, then proceeded to rustle up some breakfast while we chatted, before moving onto the deck. It was like all the birds in the area seem to know that Jon is an avid birdie and came to visit. Okay not all but quite a few.

Two hours later, as Jon drove off to his next dominie’s visit, I suddenly realised that I enjoyed the visit so much that I forgot to take a photo of Jon for my daily blog. Eish I am getting slack in my old age. Oh well 2nd prize, a photo of the simple table setting with the view.

Niche Breakfast

After yesterdays rant, I think that I need a breather, so today a shorter post.

Because of the viral nature my raw sewerage post went, I somehow have fallen into the camp of the conservation, not a bad place to be in, I must say so myself. So now we are fighting for the Greater Roodekrans Ridge Conservancy from King’s Kloof to Constantia Kloof. I phoned a friend today about Crowd Funding on another environmental project, this friend has always been adamant that my blogs have been far too short, said to me on the phone, that I have now found my niche for my blog; no more cat photos said my friend. Oh dear.

Anyway, today I had to see my client, Metalcross for our monthly debriefing sessions and after waiting for a while, it was cold this morning, Frank, the owner phoned to apologise and invited me to meet him for breakfast. Now I can’t say no to breakfast, how can I. It was a good breakfast although I didn't quite know what that green fried leaves in the mini bucket were for.

2 Be Breakfast

Yesterday morning, I got a call from Andy, one of the elders at my church to meet him for breakfast this morning at a small café called 2 Be in Epson Downs. Oh dear what have I done wrong was the first thought that raced through my mind. Later I thought, what the heck, trouble I am always in, just the depth varies mainly because I always have my foot in my mouth or it could be just a catch up breakfast to see how I am doing, now that I have been retrenched. More likely I hoped is that I could use it as a networking moment. Wow that last sentence is long and fast paced just as my mind was racing though many possibilities.

So we met for a lovely breakfast, and just caught up what is happening in my life and a bit of guidance as expected from an elder of the church. My future is in God’s hands, yes I am scared as I don’t see the bigger picture but all I have is that God is in control.

Americano-Continental Breakfast

With rain threatening I climbed onto my Vespa and headed to BBC for a morning of training. The training for volunteer helpers kicked off with a breakfast, a corporate brown paper bag lunch, which I have renamed an Americano-Continental Breakfast. There were apples and soda pop (small bottles of Sprite and Fanta) on a side table as well. And not to forget coffee and tea.

Continental for the ham cheese croissant, apples, and water while the crisps, chocolate bar, and soda pop for the Americano. So here I was struggling to imagine bacon and eggs as I tucked into my Americano-Continental breakfast.

Father and Son Breakfast

Matthew and I had to go do some shopping, not that we enjoy shopping but more like getting Matthew some new lighter shoes to play his favourite sport in has become a necessity. Anyway what do we do with a task that we don’t enjoy, well we make it fun by starting the day off with a father and son breakfast at Wimpy.

Now let the day begin and throw what it wants at us, Matthew and I are ready.
