The Comfy Cone

Maxy was bitten last Sunday by another dog and after getting him patched up he kept at his dressings. I had a doggy shirt on him to stop him from getting to his dressings. But it has been very hot lately and I have to start taking his top off just to keep him cool.

I never liked the Elizabethan collar, as the cone of shame hurts the poor dogs. At wits end, I phoned a friend for help and she said that she had a Comfy Cone, an alternative to those ghastly plastic cones which she got overseas. Here is Enzo modelling the Comfy Cone for me with little Sasha behind.

Agility

I had started Skye, my Whippet, doing dog agility earlier in the year but because of the two operations on Skye and Jade plus Maxy's sudden near death incident with HGE all in one month a stopped with agility. But Verresa has always being keen for me to start up agility again with Skye and she invited me this morning to join her with Enzo and Sasha. So first thing this morning I reported with Skye to Alex, the trainer from Thinking Pets, at the Crowthorne Veterinary Clinic for some agility.

Here is Veressa with Sasha her Italian Greyhound, showing us how we must execute the jumps. Now Skye aced the jumps but still needs lots of practice on weaving in and out through the sticks.

Sasha and Enzo

This afternoon, my family had some visitors; Veressa came round with her two Italian Greyhounds and two Dashshunds for a walk to the bottom of my garden. It was a lovely walk with eight dogs, that is two Dashshunds, five Italian Greyhounds and one Whippet puppy. The dogs were all having so much fun while Veressa and I caught up on all the happenings in our life. My dogs where so happy that they could share our garden with the new dogs while I enjoyed watching them explore this new wide open space that seemed to go on forever especially seeing Enzo run, and play hide and seek with Maxy, priceless. Well it is priceless to see Enzo run like the wind as he is a miracle iggy and we nearly lost him last year from a bone eating bacteria that he caught in a surgery while been treated for a broken leg.

Once we arrived back at the cottage we had a little picnic downstairs in my garden and the Italian Greyhounds did not stop bouncing once. They were full of beans and I can imagine when Veressa takes her pack home they will pass out in the back of the car. Here is a photo of Sasha and Enzo taken after our picnic. Sasha looks like a whiter version of Jade and Enzo a chocolate version of Maxy.

Veressa

Because we haven't seen each other for a very long time Veressa and I decided to meet for coffee this morning in fact this would be I first get together this year, my word it has been long. Veressa has heard all about Skye, seen photos of him  and just wanted to meet the little whip. We met at Ninnos on Douglasdale this morning. Veressa brought along Sasha her Italian Greyhound and I Skye my Whippet, both had similar colours but look at the size difference between Sasha who is nearly two years old and Skye who is nearly 6 months old. Skye is the bigger dog if you haven't been following my blog.

Veressa and I had a wonderful time catching up after all this time, and the dogs behaved themselves so much so that we are going to make this a regular thing.

RIP Tag

I only got home last night, after an awesome night of Fruit Ninjas and Guitar Hero, at 3am this morning. Dog tired I had to crawl out of bed at 8am so I and my Italian Greyhounds could join the old group of dog walkers at Emmarentia Dam for one last time to do a walk with Sam who lost week lost her dog Tag on Monday. Tag was a dalmatian who suffered from diabetes and Sam loved Tag into a long and fabulous life. Being part of her family, Sam took Tag's passing hard and just being among old friends must have helped with her spirit. Afterwards as we used to do, we had coffee and munchies together.
