Moving Around

So Lynda has decided to move the lounge furniture around back to what it used to be a long time ago. I really like how it is because it makes the lounge feel more open, especially with the sliding door not being covered and the light coming through. Paddy is passed out having a cat nap, he seems to enjoy the couch no matter how it is orientated.

Spread the Love

What is better than having a cat to love and give scratches? Having two cats to love and give scratches at the same time. Paddington is usually the main cat that sticks around for some snuggles, and Minky is more rare to come by. This is the very first time that they are both wanting attention from me at the same time which makes this a very special moment indeed, especially since Minky is very adamant about her personal space with other cats.

Day 83 - Watchful Eye

Lockdown Day 83 - Level 3 Day 17 - What else can I do? It is freezing outside, surely it is going to snow today. Nothing fell last night as the weatherman predicted but what do they know. Anyhoo what to do. I drag myself out of bed, jump into a steaming hot shower. Ahh I swear a hot shower was just what the doctor ordered.

By 9am I found myself at my desk, joined by Paddy and his watchful green eyes. Now what can I do to move forward...

Sticking Out Your Tongue

It is Sunday afternoon, I'm half asleep as it is nearly nap time and Paddy is fast asleep next to me, with the tip of his tongue sticking out. It is the first time I've noticed him doing the tongue thing.

Its Cold and Wet Outside

With all the rain we've been having, no wonder the cats have opted to rather stay indoors where it is nice, warm and snug compared to the wet cold outside. Paddy normally loves the rain but this afternoon here he is, fast asleep at my feet in the lounge.

Cat Fight

With the week finally over, my feet up on the ottoman, I put on some TV and searched for something light to watch. Somehow I came across  this video clip of 2 cats fighting and with all the wailing, our cats started to get upset. So the big boy Paddy went to investigate what all the fuss was about. Here he is staring at the 2 cats on the TV.

Cat TV

Just relaxing at home with Paddy as company watching whatever was on the TV at the time, so I changed channels to the Cat TV for him. With a perked interest, he started crouching and stalking the birds on the TV. Next he was right in front of them trying to figure out how is he going to catch himself a little tweedy.

Out for the Count

Arriving home yesterday from work, I felt the flu has gotten the better of me. I have been trying to fight it for over a month now, it seems that I had it beat but now, I am not sure.

Lynda is spending the day looking after granddaughters so I had peace and quiet. Sometime in the afternoon I woke up and found Paddy fast asleep next me. That's my boy, keeping daddy company in symphony.

Paddy Silhouette

This Monday kicked off a short week with Wednesday being a public holiday as the workers of the world unite. I just want to sit on my patio, enjoy the evening before it gets too cold as winter is truly here. Paddy my cat joined me on the patio to watch the waning light as the bats start coming out to feast on any brave insects still flying in the dying light.

My Paddy Cat

I know they say you not supposed to have favourite children but only 2 cats are close to my heart and they are Paddington who is shown above and Minky. Both of these cats adore me and I can just about get away with anything with them. Paddy here jumped up onto my lap this evening all wet from the April showers and just cuddled. Afterwards he proceeded to drink from my glass of water because he knows it belongs to his daddy.

Paddy Waddy

Ahhh Saturday afternoon naps with daddy is just what the doctor ordered. This morning I had to go get some chlorine for the pool because the gardener forgot to inform me the the chlorine is finished and this whole week the pool got greener and greener. So after picking up a tub of chlorine and extra chemicals to shock the pool, I did worked on the swimming pool.

Soon the pool was turning blue again, still cloudy from all the chemicals I put in but blue non the less. Being out in the sun after all the rain for the last few weeks was good for me, especially the topping up of some vitamin D.

It was late in the afternoon when I went for an afternoon nap to recharge my batteries. I woke up with Paddy keeping me company purring away and Tiger waiting for the bedroom door to open as he doesn't like going round. Ah Paddy Waddy just loves being in my company.

The Lion King

Bayete Inkosi Paddington, Bayete. It looks like we have the lion king in our presence. Sometimes I swear that he has this Trump air about him as he swaggers around the house. Paddy loves to be close to me when he doesn't disappear for most of the day doing his rounds of his kingdom. I must have the secret ingredient as Paddy loves to bury his head into my armpits. Bayete Paddy.

Polka Dot Paddy

Dark clouds gathered for the expected afternoon storm. The cats where safe inside and the dogs where buried deep inside their blankets as soon as the first rumbles of thunder rolled down the valley.

But after a few big drops of rain, nothing. Nothing!

Well that was a wet squib. Then came the reports from social, a massive storm hit Gauteng with hail and a few floods, oh well it missed us up here on the hill overlooking the northern suburbs of Jozi.

Dad's Pheromones

I shower every day yet my cats simple love my armpits, I mean the pheromones are so intoxicating that my cats get so high. Many times they bury their heads in my under arm region that I am starting to worry that something is not right. I have gotten other humans to do the smell test and I am okay so it must be some undetected pheromone that our human noses can't smell yet my underarm is like catnip to my cats.

Hump Day

Midweek, hump day, not quite Friday. Ahhhh and stretch, Paddy showing how it is done. For a little security you can just hold onto daddy's foot. I am not sure how I am doing after my bad start. It looks like Discovery Insure has somehow lost my pickup. They arranged to have it towed to get assessed for the fire and it is not where it is supposed to be.

Another problem which is on top of my mind is Belgium Campus ITversity where Matthew is. They now have had 3 serious incidents of thieves coming onto the property where the residences are. From what I have been told, the first incident was 18 January, thieves held a few female students hostage, the second was night Matthew moved into res, the 23 January and took over 800 laptops. I received an email from the University on the Wednesday after the second incident reassuring us the parents and informing us of the new security measures that they going to put in place. Now Saturday night, Matthew said he didn't hear a thing as he was in his room, but thieves again got onto the property and this time shot at one of the students who luckily survived. Oh dear it is now beyond me what else can go wrong.

Paddy just hold onto my foot.

Cuddling a Red Head

Well tick that off my bucket list, 1 red head cuddled done and enjoyed. Yes Paddy just loves cuddling with his daddy. When he comes in from his daily travels, the first thing he does is come up to me with his twitching tail, as if to say where have you been all my life, then he promptly jumps into my arms for his cuddle.

Hug a Cat

Have you hugged your cat today, or as in my case your cat hugs you. Yes, today was the first productive day this week and there I was on my computer and Paddy decided to comfort me by giving me a hug. Yes I really need this hug as I am not on the edge of the abyss anymore Toto, I am free falling.

Putty Tat Paddy

So who is the ultra dog now Paddy poopkins. On Tuesday I was supposed to take Minky, Paddy, and Rosy, to the vet for their annual injections but both Minky and Paddy somehow got whiff of my intentions and did a duck. Although Paddy is only a year old, he is our biggest cat and yet he is the most afraid of travelling in the car to the vet for some unknown reason.

It took me 2 days to finally get Paddington to go to the vet, and like Rosy he didn’t go quietly. Shame Paddy was so stressed but Andrea was gentle with the big putty tat.

Stalking Cats

Yay it is Friday and as usual I am in my garden at the end of the day at the end of a long week, enjoying the birth of new things all around me as green is replacing the old dried up brown of winter.

Storms have wrecked havoc everywhere. I am still waiting for my insurance to get back to me about my swimming pool’s solar heaters. In the meanwhile the pool water is becoming green too. Other than my pool and the deck which needs a sanding down and re-treating, the garden is looking good.

And the two cats Minky and Paddington both enjoy it when daddy is out in the garden. I just love this photo that is focused on Minky who is stalking Paddy. They take turns, chasing each other in mock attacks. Ahhh it is lovely out here in the garden. The birds are singing in happiness while the cats are distracted by each other.

Donald Trump

Poor Paddington, our kitten, who is only 10 months old, yet has grown to be our biggest cat and the bully in our home. Forget Georgie Porgie chasing the girls, Paddy is the skirt chaser here, out late at night and coming and going as he pleases. I sometimes wonder if he is not be fit to be called even a cat, as he is often out running with the big dogs.

Maybe we should have called this ginger cat Donald, after the United State’s President, Donald Trump, because POTUS has nearly an identical character as this kitten who thinks he is a dog. Funny as I type up this post, Paddy has passed out on my desk between me and the keyboard, half on his back with his noise buried deep in my armpit, eyes rolled back and somewhere in dream world. Yip I smelt, it doesn’t stink before you jump to conclusions, as I just had a shower.
