Day 84 - Kaptein span die seile

Lockdown Day 84 - Level 3 Day 18 - Now I am not a big Kurt Darren fan but when I went over to Cherie and Graham's home to drop off a package for their daughter Courtney, an Indian Myna flew up and hopped up to me. Cherie introduced Kaptein to me. She told me that Kaptein was rescued by her neighbour and hand reared.  Kaptein lives a dangerous life in a land full of cats yet he doesn't stray far from the area.

When I heard what his name was immediately the Kurt Darren song, Kaptein, sprang to mind. I bent over and stuck out my finger to which Kaptein jumped on. After introducing himself to me, he flew to Cherie's to check out her shinny earrings which caught his eye. Ahh my Kaptein, span die seile.

Day 38 - Sleeping through Church

Lockdown Day 38 - Okay this is to prove that we are at church and in bed at the same time. Being in bed does not mean that I wasn't listening to Jon's passionate preach. Yes I was awake and not like Saul who was like Paddy our cat fast asleep while David and his men took the spear and vase of water instead of killing Saul. Nothing would have woken Paddy, not even Jon.

Oh and this Kyle has been bugging me to write about what I shared to the Connect family about last Sunday's service. So please check the update I did on my post of last Sunday to read my testimonial... Oh why is Paddy always asleep?

Velile Masked Up

I had to go meet with a factory manager which Velile had organized to meet with the potential Chinese request of a million face masks in the next 2 weeks. This CMT factory was built by a gold mine for the miner's wives and daughters. Crunching the numbers this factory can produce for us about 400,000 face masks in a week.

Drum Nation

After a lot of research, I posted our new face mask on Facebook yesterday to gauge the response from family and friends. And this is the result, Warren the owner of Drum Nation, who teaches the world how to beat the drums became our first customer. Thanks Warren, may your drums be heard everywhere.

Lynda Dean

My cellphone camera is not that great in low light photographs, so this evening I started messing with some filters on some photos taken at this evenings Connect. Here is Dean trying out a tiny chair while Lynda is on her phone in the background.

First Fruits

With all the good rains, our vegetable garden has become overgrown, so Lynda decided to get stuck in and do some weeding. It was while she was getting her hands dirty, that she discovered a lovely green pepper, ready for picking. Ahh the first fruits of the year are going to be sweet and tasty.

Seeing the Old Year Out

2019 was not a good year for me but I feel that it is the turning point. God and me have grown together in leaps and bounds. I know that we are much closer than ever before after this year.

Anyhow to end off this year, we joined some friends to watch Peter Pan on Ice this evening, starting from the left to right is Matthew, Sean, Tina, Lynda, me, and of course Paulo.

So here is to a better 2020...

Biker Interview

Mark phoned me during the day, twice in fact, I thought it was good news on my Vespa but it was sadly not about my bike but Mark wanted to know if Dael was still available as he is in desperate need of extra hands.

After work, I picked up Dael and dropped him for his interview at the new biker's workshop that Mark has partnered with.

Last Connect

That is how we all feel at this time of the year, screaming as we about to hit the brick wall. Uhmm, okay the truth, this is Kyle trying to catch popcorn that Nicolene  is throwing from across the room during the last Connect meeting of the year.

After this it is all downhill from here...

Rubber It

I haven't seen Dudley since August 2011, when we conquered Sani Pass together that is until now. Well let me start from the beginning, that is last week Sunday. It started raining heavy on Saturday night, and the next morning my tenant said that the cottage is leaking. We climbed up onto the roof above where the leak was originating, and that section it is a flat roof, one of my pet hates because flat roofs are notorious leakers. We temporary covered up with plastic and on Monday we contacted the insurance.

In turns out that the insurance won't cover us as we have to redo the roof every year. Eish how come we find this out only now but deep down I feel as insurances go, they just don't want to pay. Anyways I contact a friend who runs a waterproofing company with his dad on the East Rand for advice, but he was bit reluctant to come all this way to check out our leaking roof. Then I remembered Dudley, he once said to me that he sells this liquid rubber stuff for roofs. So I phone him, and he said that he manufactures the liquid rubber roof sealant. After some discussion on the phone about my application on a flat roof, I ordered this liquid rubber product from his company Rubber It.

His factory is in Pretoria, but Dudley himself drove all the way to my work to drop off a 25l bucket of liquid rubber.

Now just to get a gap in all this wet weather.

Breakfast Apology

Well not to give away any personal details, somethings happened in all the celebrations yesterday while we were in Pretoria, well more like didn't happen, so to make it up to Nikita, Bradley organized breakfast on our deck. Okay more like brunch but the apology breakfast went down well and all the little campers are happy once again.

Ruan and Mea

We have no electricity at home because of an scheduled power outage due to maintenance for most of the day so we had to leave the area totally just to have some civilised electricity. We ended up at Uncle Harry's Roadhouse in Randfontein for a Sunday lunch.

It looks like we stumbled upon a Pokemon convention, as there were Pokemon Go, players everywhere including the press. And of course there was my old friend Ruan from my Ingress days with his latest addition to his family, little Mea. It goes to show that it has been over 2 years since I saw them and nice to finally meet Mea.

Baby it's cold outside

"I really can't stay - Baby it's cold outside", or that is what I am sure Lance is thinking right now. Or do you have a better saying for this meme. Baby it's cold outside.

Yes the 1 September, the first day of Spring, has for most times been cold and today has not disappointed as can be seen how warm Lance has dressed. Now where is my latte?

Peter at 40

Well we were invited to share the day with Peter to celebrate his 40th birthday which was actually few days back, but anything to enjoy the beautiful warm Spring day at the Botanical Gardens. Peter even got a World's Greatest 40 year old certificate to prove that he is now 40 years old.

The certificate is to prove that he is frankly flippin' fabulous and quite fantastic too. No one else does forty quite as well as Peter. Nah, he can't be forty, that's just a huge outrage. We all think he is 10 years younger and just lied about his age.

Well that is what the certificate stated.

Brenden the Giant

Well that went south very quickly, our RNW Committee meeting got rather heated this evening, so much so that I was having enough of it, perfect time to take a photo of my friend Brenden also on the committee. Yip Brenden is a giant of a man both is stature and in character. I wasn't sure if I would get him in the photo along with me also a giant but am a mouse compared to Brenden.
