Marco and Calvin

Ahhh the last day of the Rand Easter Show, it couldn't come earlier although I must say I didn't do badly at the show, being here everyday even through the quiet weekdays, it all paid off in the end.

Marco and Calvin came to help out at the stand over the weekend. even on weekends, sales only tended to come from 3pm onwards. Mornings was a long wait but the few leads pays off in the end. I can't wait for the coming week. Somewhere during the past week, I hurt my lower back and I am struggling just to get going in the morning. It is getting progressively worse so I think I better go see the back doctor.

Mixed Christmas

Christmas Day we all gathered at Robynne and Marco’s home for a Christmas lunch of mixed traditions. The normal Christmas foods that we are used to plus traditional South African braai, Madeiran Espetadas, and Durban Indian curried prawns. Ahhh these mixed families gatherings like to spice things up.

Merry Christmas everyone

3000th Post

Here are my team mates at eKayaMedia gathered together to wish me all the best on my 3000th post. In the front row, left to right is myself Jerome, Kabelo, Noma, Paballo, Sandra, Calvin, Des, and Ernest. At back is Johan, Ilana, Mpho, Ella, Xolani, Mkuseli, Philip, Bridget, Lawrence, Wayne, Viandre, and Jacques. Below are the three special children Rob, Velile, and Gillis, who couldn't make the group photo. Thank you everyone who participated in this 3000th blog post.

Wow to reach 3000 posts on this blog has been something of a ride. What do you expect with all ups and downs of over eight years of a blog post per day till now? It’s nostalgic looking back through all my posts. Some bring a smile to my face, and some make my eyes all teary, but such are these 2999 memories woven into the fabric of what I call a sorry excuse of my life. And now I have one more which takes it up to 3000.

Every one of these 3000 moments are precious to me even the broken pieces when my days were dark as the light, the joy of life just overwhelms everything else. Someone once said that a photograph can be an instant of life captured for eternity that will never cease looking back at you.

Please feel free to browse through all my life posts, right back to the start in January 2007. Yes one day I’ll look back on all this and smile because it was life and I decided to live it.

Gone Camping

Matthew and I were invited to Rudolf's birthday party of a father and son weekend away in the mountains. We joined four other dads and five sons at the Mountain Sanctuary Park in the Magaliesberg Mountains just over an hour's drive from Johannesburg. Armed with our sleeping bags and tent we weren't sure what to expect but we knew that it would be an unforgettable weekend. We arrived at the campsite just after 12pm and I started meeting the other fathers while Matthew already knew some of the boys. After lunch and pitching the tents we hiked up to the Grotto and while the fathers rested the boys played in the waterfall, in the cave behind the waterfall and pools. Here are the boys Calvin, Matthew, Matthew, Sanveer, Herman and Rudolf. We were on top of our rocky world.

The lighter side of Life

Wow what heavy few weeks. Things are improving ever so slowly. It was good to just put my guard down today and relax with my colleagues at Metrorail. Here is José, Calvin and Masilo with some students enjoying a good laugh.
