Faraway

Carol got bitten by the mangy dog next door late yesterday afternoon. She decided to take a walk up the road and along the way she past this scruffy dog who is always in the road. The dog just attacked her maybe thinking that Carol was already injured due to her disabilities. I went up to the owner's house to confront them and although seeing me did not come out to investigate. I then called the police to lay a charge and had to take Carol to the doctors for a Tetanus injection. Not good for an evening. Anyway back at work we're all up to our ears keeping the ship afloat. Although it doesn’t seem like with Theo's faraway look.

Jimmy and Theo

It has just been a normal day here a Metrorail with most of the talk is weather France will play well tonight against South Africa after what has been coming out the French change room. Anyway I have lost hope in soccer and FIFA with all the acting that has been going on. Here is Jimmy and Theo still hold a little hope for Bafana but we will see if the vuvuzelas will be blaring tomorrow or remain silent.

Monday Morning Blues

When I wake up in the morning light
I put on my jeans and I feel alright
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on

It's the weekend and I know that you're free
So put on your jeans and come on out with me
I need to have you near me
I need to feel you close to me
I need to have you near me
I need to feel you close to me

You and me will go motorbike riding
In the sun and the wind and the rain
I got money in my pocket, got a tiger in my tank
And I'm king of the road again

I'll meet you in the usual place
I don't need a thing 'cept your pretty face
And I need to have you near me
I need to feel you close to me
I need to have you near me
I need to feel you close to me
I need to have you near me
I need to feel you close to me

You and me will go motorbike riding
In the sun and the wind and the rain
I got money in my pocket, got a tiger in my tank
And I'm king of the road again

When I wake up in the morning light
I put on my jeans and I feel alright

I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on

When I wake up in the morning light
I put on my jeans and I feel alright
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on

When I wake up in the morning light
I put on my jeans and I feel alright
I pull my blue jeans on
I pull my old blue jeans on
I pull my blue jeans on

E’Lollipop

Here is Theo who reminds me a little Tsepo from the movie e'Lollipop. Forever young, forever free.

Holding out

I am not doing well in the flu department but I am trying to remain strong. All drugged up I tried to manage an entire day at Metrorail which was very difficult especially between 1 and 3 in the afternoon. But somehow I managed to hold out. I wasn't up to taking any photos but I had to find the strength for at least one. So now you have Theo and Jimmy, two technicians at Metrorail, who are looking very relaxed.

About Time

Yes I think it is about time to post a photo of me again. This time I am helping Theo scan a memory stick at Metrorail.

The Stress

Stress is mounting as I reach month end although it is out of my hands, I still worry. With management handling the strike, not much attention is on my problems. What to do, what to do? Theo is busy heads down given the strike office all his attention.

In the dark

As for where we stand as contractors in Metrorail we will only find out tomorrow or Monday. Well it is out of my hands and I am just asking for favorable terms and that we will still be here for a long time. Here is Theo looking a bit perplexed but come what may.

Robust work

It is going to be a hot summer as some cold fronts aren’t even denting the searing temperatures. While back in air conditioned offices at Metrorail we find Theo fixing some robust laptops for Sihle from rolling stock. I wonder how the boy from the foothills of the Drakensberg Mountains is finding the heat.

Thank Goodness, it’s Friday

I had a particular hard week but managed to keep my sanity which matters a lot. Friday means weekend and weekend means that I can just vegetate. It seems that Theo and Ntaoleng at Metrorail have become very good friends as shown in today’s photo.

Training

The weather was great this morning but by mid afternoon a terrible storm blew over. The IT guys thought it funny that I was on my bike and offered to get me a taxi. Here are some of them getting training from Patrick. From the left clockwise around the table is Theo, Khathu, Jimmy, Masilo (head down), Thabiso, Thanyani, Karabo, Brian, Lerato, Vuyo, Amukelani, Patrick and Khumbu.

Nip in the air

The weather is turning cold again. Theo, our young Xhosa from Matatiele, is shown here dressed for snow. Someone must gently tell him that this is Johannesburg not the southern Drakensberg or does he know something we don't. Brrrr, it is getting cold.

How it is done?

Here is Theo showing how it is done while Mpho enjoys the all the attention. For me it was not so casual. I had to get all the paperwork together for Bryandale and rush around.

Day Seven - Love believes the best

Wow it is getting harder and harder. I want to believe the best but what I am seeing it is not good. The further I try the more impossible it seems. I just cannot do this on my own. Back at Metrorail things are getting back to normal after last week’s bout of hay fever. Here is Theo explaining what next in his repairing of a PC. I wish relationships was as simple as this.

The Cold

The temperatures have dropped to below 0 degrees this morning. Thank goodness the central climate control is now operational. Here is Theo one of the ICT technicians, dressed warmly.

On the Job

Above is Theo giving his technical support to Vuyo from Marketing and Commutations at Metrorail. Work is moving at a fast pace with Metrorail getting ready for the Confederations Cup and Kimberly-Clark about to launch new products. My next week calendar looks like this. Monday: Metrorail; Tuesday: Kimberly-Clark dry-run, Metrorail then Home Cell; Wednesday: Doornfontein Station Opening Event; Thursday: Kimberly-Clark new product launch; Friday: Metrorail final preparations for Confederations Cup and on Saturday the Kick Off. It is no quiet before the storm. I am falling head first down the rabbit hole.

Who’s the Man?

I did an urgent job last night for PRASA that had to be approved this morning. Anyone wanting FIFA Confederation Cup tickets at a very discounted price? Look out for posters at Park Station or Pretoria Metrorail ticket offices soon. My artwork has been approved today so it is just finalising a few things then off to the printers. So who’s the man? Here is Theo showing how it is supposed to be done. For all my hard work let me see if I can get two tickets for the Italy vs Brazil game or for the Final.

Feet up

I made the deadline with over 12 hours to spare. It didn’t have time to whizz pass. Can’t relax yet I have many cost estimates to get out. Here are Sello and Theo showing us how to work and relax at the same time.

Behind them against the back glass are Mokgosi and Theophylus.

It's Catchy

According to popular belief we do work in the ICT department but these days it seems that we’re just only getting started. Don’t you also think so Theo?
