More Cat TV Channels

Sometime during Friday evening, I started coming down with some bug. By Saturday I was bed ridden but somehow managed to crawl out of bed to get to the shops. Today I just can’t seem to shake this man flu.

So while I sit on the couch watching some TV, Minky our monkey cat, too watches her TV and every now and then she circles the tank trying to catch those pesky critters.

Cat Television

Finally we moved forward in setting up our fish tank. It has been in the plans for some time but today, the heater was bought and 8 small tropical fish. Minky our monkey like cat was very intrigued with the tiny critters. She tried every possible way to catch the fish. Now that Minky is hooked to this square box, we are now calling the fish tank, the cat television.

Missing Dog Fish

With all this heavy rain lately, nothing is safe from the rising waters. It is Friday, the rain has been threatening but holding off, so off I was to work on my trusty Vespa.

On the way through the Wolds, on one of the majestic oaks lining the streets was this Missing Dog sign that was well flooded. Interesting as it looks like one of those gold fish bags that you get from pet shops. Now it looks like a Dog Fish has escaped.

Stepping Stones to Past Times

When the path ahead changes from smooth to rocky, then altogether fades, we still need to put one foot ahead of the other and keep moving forward.

On this hot morning, Lynda and I went to Nicola's Nursery in Northumberland and after crossing these stepping stones found a quaint tea garden tucked away in the back. Past Times, was filled with butterflies fluttering around and had these nooks and tuck away tables. We enjoyed sitting under a leafy tree away from the bustle of life while sipping on virgin cocktails. The path seemed far away, for now, as we rested in this garden.

Interesting though it wasn't that busy but at the entrance to the tea garden was a sign that stated "Past Times. Sorry, :-( we are too busy right now. Come back in 20 mins :-)" Busy or not on this journey that we on, I think stopping at Past Times' garden is a must.

Clean Fish

One of Matthew's chores this morning was cleaning Coffee’s bowl. Now Coffee is our goldfish who lives in a percolator. Here is Matthew pulling a face at the dirty face at the cleaning. Well sorry for him and at least Coffee will now be a clean fish.

Coffee up Close

This morning was a bit of housekeeping duties to take care of but once that was out of the way it was off to the bioscope to watch Kahn make his return, oops spoiler. No wrath please, honest mistake. Anyway since I am on the subject of stars, let me ingress a little, there is not a Shaper invasion, but they already here, it is an occupation. We are not fighting an alien invasion, we are leading a revolution.

And with that profound insight, I will leave you with a photograph of my not so gold goldfish, Coffee. Confused? Well so am I.

A Fish called Coffee

It is Friday and after work I bounced into my cottage with my dogs all ecstatic to see me, the cats all in a tizz as to what has just blown in and the fish, well the fish. We have a fish, a goldfish called Coffee that is well not quite gold but more like red and white, not to mention who lives in a coffee percolator. Now I remember the preposterous story of another goldfish called Gustav who came with a warning "Just feed him a spot. If you feed him a lot then something might happen! It's hard to say what." Oh he is in there somewhere. Yes I think it is time to change Coffee's water.

Coffee is just right for his home and I dare not feed him too much. As one of my favourite authors once wrote, why fit in when you were born to stand out.

Merchant Koi

It seems that I am going down the food chain lately in my daily photographs. First my dogs, then the cats and now fish, when will this end? Ingress is taking me to places other than the creative places that Joburg Photowalkers took me. This morning I found myself at the koi pond outside the Merchant Place on Fredman Drive in Sandton, South Africa's financial district.

iShaka Marine World

Today was dedicated to iShaka Marine World where Matthew spent the day enjoying the water slides while I watched from the sides. But I was not alone as Lynda joined us as she too is on leave and staying with her parents in New Germany.

While Matthew was having fun, Lynda and I explored to aquarium. It was here that I found these lovely examples of the Pterois Miles or the Devil Firefish. They brought back memories of my first ever sea dive at the reef called the Crèche off Ponte De Ouro, Mozambique. As the group of divers dropped from the surface to the reef, we landed in a school of Devil Firefish. I eyeing out these venomous fish in the ebb waiting for the rest of the group to join. It was an interesting first dive for me.

Bettas in Coffee

A quiet day in the office, getting quotes out, arranging meetings, sending my CV out, bathing Sophia and cleaning the fish bowl. I have converted my coffee percolator into a fish bowl for a pair of Betta Splendens or better known as Siamese Fighting Fish. A beautiful blue coloured male and a dull green female. I haven’t gotten them names yet but it will come. They seem very happy and I promised them never to turn the hot plate on.
