Why so Sad Brian?

Why do you look so sad Brian? It is Friday for Pete's sake, smile, it is a long weekend for the matter of fact. Monday is women's day which means we have a public holiday. Enjoy your weekend everybody.

Down and Out

I believe that it was a beautiful Highveld day but I did not get to enjoy it as I have come down with something. While I tried to recover Matthew and Brian spent the day on the computer instead of playing outside in the beautiful weather. I was not strong enough to send them out or maybe it was their last Saturday before school term starts that stopped me. Well let me get back to sleep.

George and Alison

George and Alison arrived for a visit from the states last Sunday but this is the first time I am seeing them this year. I bet they are happy to be away from the blizzards and snow. Here is Trevor, George, Alison and Brian enjoying a moment after BBC.

Relax, don’t do it

Another quiet weekend has arrived. Matthew has not been well and has not fully recovered. He has been running out of things to watch on the television and play on the computer. I bet he wishes that he was better so that he doesn't have to take that bitter medicine. Here he is with his friend Brian but he looks bored.

Uno

It is Reconciliation Day in South Africa, previously known as the Day of the Vow. It was the day the Boers defeated Dingaan at the Battle of Blood River. Now we forgive and move on. So in the spirit of today Matthew and Brian play Uno.

Year end 1

Year year is coming to an end very fast and so is my contract. There are many questions that remain unanswered. Today our Home Circle group had our year end dinner. As you can see in today's photo, Brian and Andy cutting up the Turkey. Uhmmm. While back at home our DSL line is still down. I think Telkom should change the "T" in its name to a "H".

Deepavali

Tonight while I cook some chicken Biryani, the people of Indian descent that live around us celebrate Dewali, the festival of light, with fireworks and all. Matthew and Brian who oh course like all boys enjoy the fireworks.

What happened to Spring?

Summer is on the way. The evenings are starting to stay warm as shown by Brian and Matthew who are enjoying their evening on the trampoline.

Training

The weather was great this morning but by mid afternoon a terrible storm blew over. The IT guys thought it funny that I was on my bike and offered to get me a taxi. Here are some of them getting training from Patrick. Boys and PSP

It is a relaxing weekend with some major decisions to make about the future of Matthew's schooling. So while we deliberate and pray about it Brian and Matthew have some time just being boys.

Day 17

Thank goodness it is the weekend but it has been a busy day. Tomorrow Metrorail is having a Women’s Day function at the Ubuntu Kraal in Soweto. I have so much to finish before then and no time for rest. Here are few of the students who started this month at Metrorail. Work while the kids play

After a good sleep in I got cracking with a client’s revision which I want finish by the end of today so I can do some father son bonding which I have been neglecting for the past few weeks. Matthew in the meantime entertained himself with his friends, Valerio and Brian.

Swan Lake

At Sandy’s 50th Birthday Party, her husband Andy, Gary, Kevin and Brian (hidden behind Kevin) preformed a 10 minute parody on the Swan Lake. It was ballet like you never seen before. Instead of graceful ballerinas we got bumbling elephants. I think this has ruined ballet for me. The audience was rolling in the aisles in fits of laughter. The boys are back in town.

I am back into the swing of things again at Metrorail. I have just completed my first TV advert one of my clients which is going to air during the Super 14 rugby on DSTV. I still have that Sharepoint deadline waiting on the wings which I have to jump into and get complete before month end. Back at home Brian and Matthew are playing on the Nintendo.

Mud Pies

I came home from Metrorail tried only to find Matthew and Brian making mud pies. Well I once was a young boy too.

Bed, Bed, Bed, I am tied of this bed. Every time a cough or laugh my bruised lungs ache. Matthew had friends over which kept him out of the house. Here is the neighbourhood boys, Philip, David, Tino, Brian, Matthew and Maxy, the Italian Greyhound.

Weekend is here

I could not wait for the weekend to start. The day at Metrorail dragged on and on and on. I was glad to just get home and pup my feet up. Brian came over and spent the night. Carol was not too happy because Matthew and Brian did not want to go to sleep and talked most way into the night until I had to come get them to snooze.

Camp Out

Camp out time again. After last year, I was not keen on spending a night camping on the school’s sport field. It is okay to camp in the wild because there is stars and no noise but this is pitch your tent on the school grounds under a powerful flood lights which are on all night. This equates to lots of fun for Matthew and no sleep for me. Cookie, Brian’s nanny offered to spend the night with the kids. Victory for me. After a short thunderstorm we left for the school. Matthew, who was shown by Ken, pitched the tent all by himself. I stayed until 10pm before leaving for home and a warm bed.
