DMX Temptations

I felt much better this morning after a good night’s rest with an overdose of headache pills. Today is good as a holiday as today is the DMX Conference which is to be held in the Hilton Hotel, Sandton. The three photos below where taken of some of the many Japanese masks found at the restaurant. Interesting as we always find ourselves hiding behind masks.

I suppose my aim is still the MozCon but I have to settle for something closer to home until that time I would be able to go to that not so typical marketing conference. So here we are listening to different speakers on Digital Marketing picking up a few new ideas and also to confirm that we are on the right track.

Okay there was no Google represented, nor was there a Rand Fishkin but some speakers did stand out, Scott Cundill and his Fire and Forget idea but where could we use it, Lynette Hundermark on mobile tends and opportunities, Ryan Hogarth and his off the cuff without technical aids talk, and then there was Dylan Kohlstadt which I could swear is my friend Delia’s doppelgänger.

Well anyway being the Hilton, the lunch would be perfect temptations although as you can see the salad before me which is what the doctor ordered even with all the delicious sweets on display. Okay, okay I can’t tell a lie I did cheat but aren’t going to show those photos.

Philodendrons Dude Philodendrons

Walking into Lifestyle this morning these two teenagers were walking out deep in conversation and we overheard one excitedly say to the other, “Dude! Did you check out all those philodendrons?”

This stopped us in our tracks, did we hear correctly? Is this a new code word for cannabis? These are not words normally coming out of excited young men, that is for sure. So we stopped them and chatted for a while. Ryan, the one on the right turns out to be a friend of Lynda’s son Bradley.

Both young men are attending the Lifestyle College of Landscape Design and are about to start their final practical exam by design a garden which will be showcased at the Lifestyle Garden Centre, hence their excitement over philodendrons, lots of philodendrons dude!

Ryan, Tyla and Ryan

Like Monday it was heads down from the moment I stepped into the office until I left although his time I was starting to get an headache by mid morning so I went out for a ride on my bike during lunch just to feel the wind in my hair and my mind racing to another tune.

But it didn't help because by 5pm I had excruciating pain behind my left eye, too much straining at the computer screen no doubt. Anyway so I packed up and headed home, swallowed pain killers then jumped into the car for a BBC Financial, Worship and Praise meeting. It has replaced the boring AGM and they did try to get it exciting as can be, although the 2012 year does look exciting from where I am standing, that is at the back on the right, if anyone noticed.

I took today's photo of Ryan, Tyla and Ryan practicing before the masses of BBCes arrive. I think this is the part were Ryan on the right broke a string on his guitar.
