Misty Monday Rainy Monday

Monday, Monday, Monday! Sigh!

This morning we woke to soft rain with our home up in the clouds. The gardener arrived but what can one do with rain coming in waves. So not to disappoint him and send him home, I decided that he could do maintenance chores around the home and I had two tasks that I have been putting off for quite some time now, one was to put up the extra fencing to keep the dogs from going into the nature reserve, and the other was dismantle the dog house and rebuild it at the back.

The rain held out while the fencing went up much to the disappointment of the dogs. It was while I was helping the gardener with the fencing, that I noticed a rather large snake skin just outside our wall. It looks like it could be a puff adder or night adder skin but more the reason keep our dogs out.

Halfway through the dismantling of the dog house, the rain said bugger that, and started bucketing down. My well laid out plans had to change; it is now a dismantled dog’s house under the car port and a soaked me in the shower.

Monday, Monday, Monday! Sigh!

Oh my Hat

Wherever I lay my hat that’s my home, I’m telling you that’s my home. Yes Monday started quite like how most of my Mondays start, and that is with a mug of coffee in bed while catching up on social.

My Monday continued busy as usual for Mondays and of course satisfying but round about late afternoon, I got an email from my ex asking for more and that is when the floor opened up and I crashed and burned. Oh what a tangled web we weave when we begin to conceive.

I arrived back home all sullen, I felt trapped with nowhere to turn, so I crashed down onto my bed. I suppose I felt that when I wake up all my problems would be gone.

Two hours later I woke up in the dark, shuffled into the kitchen and made some coffee. Oh my hat; I still have my problems only two hours older but somehow coffee should make it alright again. End of my Monday.

Springbucks in the Rain

The first thunderstorm of the summer has released its bounty over Gauteng. You can smell the rain in the air as the ground cried out for the large rain drops. It was like everything was alive, Gerald the peacock got the girl right in front of my window, I was in shock from the birds and the bees’ education that was being played out in front of me that I forgot to reach for my camera. Oh well in about a months time we should have some baby peafowls.

Monday and Norma Jean, the two baby springbucks had their first feel of what rain is, they were bouncing as springbucks do, as the drops landed onto them. I hope they enjoyed their first shower as there will be many more where that came from.

Baby Monday

Just over a week ago 3 springbucks were born at Mogale Business Park. The first one which I witnessed was at about 4:30 pm on the Friday the first of August, the second on Saturday morning, and the third on Monday morning, hence the name Monday. Sadly dues to the fear of lions nearby the zebras attacked the babies and two babies died before the zebras could be contained.

So here is Monday, our 12 day old baby black springbuck with his mother to the left checking me out while a young male springbuck came over to smell the youngster.

It is times like these that a point and shoot is not the best camera for the job and I wish I had my DSL with a lovely lens on so that I could get a better photo of Monday.
