Mike at BBC

This morning I felt 50% better but it didn’t help that I was on duty at BBC so I had to drag my sorry arse out of bed and get ready instead of just rolling over and going back to sleep.

But in a way I am glad I ignored my body’s screams to stay in bed as I would have missed my old friend Mike which I haven’t seen in years at BBC.

Then it was back to bed to get this remainder 50% vanquished.

Magic Mike

Saturday has arrived with lots of plans for the day but a spanner was thrown into the deck by Skye who virtually was coughing his lungs out. So the first order of the day was off to the vet. Now because my budget for the coming month was very tight I could just go to my normal vet. Lynda had told me about her vet who was more affordable.

Arriving at this vet, I just want to turn around and run as the first impression was a hillbilly establishment. After waiting for a why in reception come office come pet food shop come store room, the vet arrived from doing his banking and put me at ease with his bed side manner. Skye was diagnosed with Kennel Cough. Uhmmm, my dogs socialise a lot so he could have picked up this virus from any of the dogs we come across. Poor Skye is now on a course of antibiotics but will be alright.

After dropping Skye back home it was too late for the Zoo Photowalk and I had to rethink about getting a new battery for my cellphone due to vet costs, so I went off to the Outer Limits as it is Matthew’s birthday next weekend and it was there that I met the Grand Wizard Mike who holds Magic the Gathering tournaments every weekend at the Outer Limits in Melville. Ohhh look a Lightsaber, oh no even better a Sonic screwdriver. Everywhere I looked I battled to choose what Matthew would like as he would have liked everything there. No power in the universe can stop the Daleks! Bazinga!

Year Start Dinner

To start off the year my cell combined a dinner with a surprise baby shower for one of our members. It was a wonderful evening with friends that care. Mike, Denise, Karin and Rob are shown here all enjoying pre-dinner drinks.

You’re getting Old

Yes it is one of those times when one of your friends decides to have a BIG 0 birthday. Gary has just turned 50 years old. Woo Woo! Gray I think that you should demand a recount. Family and friends all joined to celebrate Gary's nifty fifty at a breakfast at the Rivonia Bowling Club. Here is Gary, on the right, with Mike. He doesn't look 50, 49 maybe, but never 50!

Guitar Man

Strum me a song Mr Guitar Man. We have started singing at our home group meetings and I must say it is rather enjoyable with Mike plucking away and the rest of us trying to hold a tune. Singing I can do but sing I can’t.

Tigga Wannabes

Yes the Saturday Men’s Group has bounced into the new year. Here are five good Christian men who come to the early Saturday get together. Notice the new fashion statement, stripes that would make any Tigga proud. My friends are from left to right Mike, Joe, Rob, Kevin and Gary.

Nero’s feast

Be careful when you pull a tongue Mike, as you never know where the picture will end up. Sandy is trying to smile next to that face. Doesn’t Mike look just like the Roman Emperor Nero? This evening our home cell had our Christmas dinner. Andy, Sandy, Rob, Denise, Mike, Denise, Emmelinah, Poppie (Karin), Jackie, Francis, Johanna, Carol and myself all enjoyed ourselves. The water mains were turned off in the area so we had no running water, which was okay until we needed to refill the toilet cistern from the swimming pool. As usual the food was scrumptious. We started with avocado pear topped with shrimps in home made mayonnaise sauce. For main course there was roast turkey, roast beef, roast potatoes, roast vegetables, other vegetables, salad and garlic bread. After that I was too full but that was the end of my diet. With ice-cream topped with strawberries, cherries and melted chocolate what could I do. There was also some tangerine and cream pudding and not to forget Emmelinah’s cupcakes. We ended the evening with coffee, tea and more chocolate.

Yellow crocs

Wow, the sun was so bright this morning that my eyes hurt, it was not use to the sun. Everyone around me seemed bouncy and renewed. I don't know who was brighter Mike or his yellow shoes. I started reading the book "Memoirs of the Boer War" by Jan Smuts.
