Community in Prayer

Tonight the community gathered outside Duncan’s shop where he was tragically murdered in a robbery and for Sabelo, an young off duty security guard who was executed while sitting in his patrol car during the robbers getaway. Our community of Roodekrans, Wilropark, and Helderkruin reeled at this senseless barbaric act. We had a very packed Community Watch meeting earlier this week at a local church, where we all gathered seeking answers.

This afternoon the body of Duncan was laid to rest while Sabelo funeral will happen this weekend. Tonight as a way forward our community held a candlelight vigil and prayer. Our neighbouring communities and their police forums, councillors, and all the security companies in the area, all joined us this evening in a stance of solidarity.

Starry Starry Bokeh

Our Home Circle group started up this evening with another awesome dinner at the Sims. I took this photograph of one of the starry candle holders on the patio table. It gave this exquisite bokeh affect. For those who don't know what bokeh means, it is a word derived from the Japanese word "boke" which means blur. In photography, bokeh is the way a camera lens renders points of light out of focus that is pleasing to the eye.

Although this year has started as a blur and way down in the dumps, it can't get worse, now can it? This is the start of the year getting better and pleasing to me.

Blow out the candle

This post is a bit late. Why? Due to what we South Africans have come to endure, rolling load shedding or simply put blackouts. We have been lucky because most South Africans have been suffering for quite sometime, this is our first. They supposed to last two hours but ours was three and half hours long, from 8pm till 11:30pm. Some people have up to three of these a day. Maybe we all should have voted for the ANC because their slogan is "Amandla! Power to the People" then we would have had power. The rain is back. This seems to be a very wet month. This along with the power outages, which means no traffic lights, has a terrible affect on the rush hour traffic. Well would the last person to leave the country please blow out the candle.
