Death Note Birthday

Since Matthew’s birthday falls in his final exams we decided to move his birthday combined with his final year function with friends this weekend. By busy I mean 12 teenagers descended onto our quiet home for a sleepover party and some sleepover party it turned out to be.

Two arrived yesterday and the rest of the teenagers arrived just after noon. Soon the party was in full swing with pizza slices going round as the guest settled in and started playing Xbox and Playstation. With Matthew playing host, we had to slip out and buy the rolls and salad ingredients.

At 4pm I started the braai while the kids went for a hike down into the kloof. When they came back the food was ready, thank goodness as they were exhausted and hungry. After dinner it was pool time. Now how come I remember someone saying you should not swim on a full stomach? Well that someone forgot to tell Matthew and friends.

It looks like this party is never going to end as Matthew cuts his Death Note birthday cake and they all get their second wind. With the music doff doffing in the background Lynda and I call it a day while the party will continue till tomorrow morning.

Love is in the Air

Do we have some love blossoming here? Uhmm, I have been so sick this week but still at work trying to keep my head somehow about water but deadlines and other things that distract us from living is no concern to these two, Terrence with the love in his life Michelle.

I hope I didn’t put my foot in one such as I usually do, when asking Terrence is this his new girlfriend and what happened to the others. Terrence must have forewarned her as thankfully she didn’t take me too seriously but you should have seen Terrence turn a shade of red that would have made any tomato proud. As always my foot is constantly in my mouth. The only time that it isn’t, is when I’m changing feet. Let the love shine on.

Eight Friends plus me

Tomorrow I turn 28 plus and tonight was the best time this week to get eight friends together around a table, be it an Italian table and do dinner. We spent a wonderful evening at Lucios Pizzeria in Blackheath catching up and just having a good time together. This is what friends are for. The eight were Richard, Michelle, Paulo, Tanya, Riaz, Ann, Magda and Martin. I haven't seen Paulo since his 40th because he has been in Mozambique most of the time so here he is looking all dignified without his hat between Tanya and Michelle.

Chelle and Skye

As some of you might know that I always wanted a Greyhound, Whippet and an Italian Greyhound. Why? Well because I am tired of people calling my beautiful Italians something they not and by having all three I can educate them the difference. So when I was offered a pedigree Whippet puppy I didn't have to think for long, now I have one dog too many but who cares as I am on the road to having all three of the greyhound breeds. When I get a bigger place, someday, I then aim for an Azawakh (a type African sighthound), Borzoi (Russian Greyhound), Galgo Español (Spanish Greyhound), Magyar agar (Hungarian Greyhound), Saluki (Persian Greyhound) and a Sloughi (another type of African sighthound). So what gives you a clue that I like greyhounds?

Wake me up, I am dreaming. I started the day early at 5am with another wonderful walk at Christmas Bay then went back to Paws for Thoughts to pack for the trek home. When all ready, Matthew and I went to pick up the new member of my family, Skye. He is a beautiful pedigree Whippet puppy. It was a long drive back to Johannesburg with frequent stops for the dogs. I stopped in Pietermaritzburg to see my friend Robbie and bumped into his sister in-law Fiona and her daughter Michelle. Here is Michelle holding Skye. About midway between Harrismith and Villiers, I was starting to fall asleep. Maybe it was from my early start of the day but thankfully we made it back home safely.

A Cold Day in June

It was a cold day in June, just like today 34 years ago when the police open fire on protesting school children in Orlando, Soweto. Tomorrow is Youth Day, a public holiday in remembrance of this fateful day. Metrorail's Human Resources Department dressed up in their old school uniforms to commemorate that day.

No touching sides

Today I was rushed off my feet and at the same time anxious about a number of things. Well it is out of my hands and I must live one day at a time. At Metrorail I could not focus at all and my mind was back home. Here is Refiloe with Michelle from Metrorail’s Human Resources department.
