Lonely Cactus

Next door looming over the neighbour's wall near our kitchen is one lonely cactus, so lonely that no-one wants to give it a hug. In the early dawn light, looking at this cactus, my mind wonders to that old western series in the early 70s called the High Chaparral as there was these high cacti all over the place. My hero was of course Manolito, strange that I would side with him. I suppose psychologists will read  a lot into one of my first childhood heroes.

Like Bees to the Flower

This obnoxious cactus in my front garden produces these awesome flowers every so often and the bees  simply love them. Did I ever mention that I have this garden that attracts butterflies and bees from all over. The nectar must be sweet with this prickly plant.

Cactus Fruit

I am not really fond of cactus other that the Tree Hugger song by Kimya Dawson and cold prickly pear fruit, yummy. The way I feel now man flu down, I think I must be very prickly even to hug.

We have this cactus in our front garden that is really doing well, flowering often and now sprouting bright red fruit. I'm not sure if they are edible and I'm not going give it a try. I wish to be a big cactus with a pink flower on it.  And the flower would be its offering of love to the desert, so dry and lonely that the creatures all appreciate the effort.

Dana’s Cactus

A wish to be a big cactus with a pink flower on it, Ahhh this little cactus in a bed of red stones reminds me of the Kimya song. This takes me back quite a few years back.

Here I am, sitting at Dana’s desk reviewing their new web pages on their site for the product launch in a few days time. And on that desk is a little cactus wishing it was a big cactus in a corporate world.

The Wheel Turns

A new month and reporting starts all over again which means for the next week or two I’ll be working late. Sigh, the wheel is turning but does the hamster want to run?

So let get these late nights out of the way, shall we.

What’s the Crack?

In this heat, what is the crack? What is happening? Well it is Friday, my sleep has been hard to find but hopefully a solution to my sleep apnoea will come.

It is Matthew’s birthday this coming Wednesday but he is in the middle of exams so not much to enjoy expect this weekend before the birthday but for now you will have to do with a photo of a crack in a pot in the middle of a cacti garden on a hot Friday afternoon.

It is so hot the air feels heavily pregnant in the last semester. Soon labour will come with the burst of the first thunderstorm. And still the snake wishes he had hand to hug the cactus like a man. And the cactus replied “A hug would be nice, but hug my flower with your eyes”. Whoever knows this song, know this that it is one of my favourites. I think the heat is starting to get to my head for it not for the lack of sleep.
