Smiling Klipspringer

As usual for the first week of the month, it is hectic. Unmoveable deadlines are looming like a giant tidal wave that is poised to break on my shores. The debris of my personal issues are mixed up in the water and if I am not careful I will get hurt badly. To avoid some of those debris, I had to rush from work across town to Benoni to get a copy of my settlement agreement that is in file because the lawyers wouldn’t accept the copy I gave them only to find the document in file is exactly the same as the one I gave the lawyers down to the court stamp. Only difference was the original on file had the judge’s scribal on it stating that it is Annexure C. Just keep swimming Jerome, just keep going.

Oh well at the end of hump day I shuffled my way to my pick-up, headachy, and a little concerned of all the work that I still have to do by Friday and saw this pair of Klipspringers in the garden. The nearest buck looked up at me and smiled. That is all I needed as things of this world just melted away. Everything will be alright. I now know my name!

Farewell Andrew

I am not sure when I will see Andrew again as he is about to be medically boarded. I met Andrew over 2 years ago when I first started working here at Bosasa. Andrew is a kind hearted man who is works as the Caretaker of the Mogale Business Park. Now he will be moving back to Limpopo to spend the rest of his days close to his family.

Farewell my friend, may God continue to bless you till the end of your days, and may there be many more good days to come to enjoy the rest of your life with.

Attack of the Weaver

My flu has being a struggle, as I have never been this sick for this long as far as I can remember. As I start getting better from the one virus, another takes an opportunity to strike while my immune system is depressed. To make matters worse 4 cases of Swine Flu have been reported in my vicinity. Note to self: no kissing of pigs allowed, period!

Shuffling up to my pick-up after work, as in this state a bike will be kind of dangerous, I noticed this pair of guineafowls being dive bombed by a weaver. Although I didn't see one, the weaver must have a nest nearby which is most likely why this little yellow fella is attacking. With cellphone in hand, I had to try get a photograph if only the guineafowls would stop moving away. In the above photo the weaver is blurred in his attack but it is an action shot from a Samsung cellphone camera of Alfred Hitchcock's The Attack of the Weaver.

Spring in the Air

Spring is truly here with the hatching of the Hawaiian geese’s three eggs to reveal our first babies of this year’s spring. Sorry but I could not get a decent photo as the mommy and daddy were very protective so I leave you with some of the spring blossoms that are opening up all around me as the days start warming up for coming summer.

I see you

Maybe if I stand real still, he won’t see me. Oh darn, he has seen me and now he wants to take some photographs. The privacy in this eco park is not what it used to be.

Yes there I was head down, ploughing through the reports that I have being compiling and I look up and gaze out of my Mogale Business Park office window into the late afternoon winter’s sun. And with a twitch of a Duiker’s whiskers, I saw grey duiker in the under growth.

I see you little one!

Sigh, consider the little bucks, how they don’t worry about what to wear or where their next meal will come from, yet God has even this little creature under its care. Sigh I think it is time to pack up and call it a day.

Babies Growing Fast

Our babies are starting to grow quite fast and more pregnant mommies are expectant soon. Our eco-park at Mogale is expanding nicely.

The Ice Chick has tripled in size since she arrived 3 weeks ago. Mommy and daddy Blue Crane are very protective over their single baby. But poor Mr and Mrs Black swans, they lost one of their cygnets, and are down to two since they were born two weeks ago.

Last week a duiker gave birth but now it looks like poor baby duiker has been left on its own to fend for itself while mommy goes foraging. The little thing is so inquisitive and comes out of hiding to check us out. Every time the sound of the camera triggers, a shiver runs up the back of the duiker which is about a metre away from us. All the best little ones.

Days like These

With the days getting shorter, all the animals are getting prepared for winter. The bees are stocking up on honey while the bushbuck are fattening up for the lean months. It is days like these, that stretch out the month. Life goes on even when it starts to blur around my peripheral.

And today has been one of those days that should have had a warning label. On days like this, it is okay if I quietly sit in the garden, watch the bees and the birds go by and just simply breathe.

Mogale Business Park

Work is starting to happen now after a slow start last week and it should be very busy on the roads from tomorrow as the schools go back but for now I can still relax in the tranquil gardens of Mogale Business Park. The path on the left lead up to my office which is just behind those trees on the left. Oh I suppose lunch is over and it is back to my office.

And yes those fluffy grey clouds soon turned ominous and it started raining. Sorry for me as I am on the Vespa today.
