Day 11 - Crash and Burn

 

 Lockdown Day 11 - My world has come crashing down with an email from my boss at WebSense who also owns Therabreath South Africa, terminating my employment due to the "very precarious financial position" he finds himself in due to the Corona Virus outbreak in South Africa and the lockdown that the government has put into place even after all our preparations of working from home. 

Oh well at least the rain has stopped and the sun is out drying up the tears.

Short, Back and Sides

 

Well this evening, our president announced that from Friday our country is going into lockdown. Yes the world is about to change forever. No one is quite sure of the future. One can only hope and trust.

The person on the block, Byron started work this morning with short, back, and sides style haircut. You would think he is about to be called up for service.

Bioscrub

Here at Websense we are gearing up the hygiene of our offices with Graham scoring the interwebs for Sanitizing products. Wash your hands is first port of call with this Bioscrub. I am following it up with the manufacturing of washable and reusable face masks.

Byron

 

Ah so finally we get Taleesha's replacement, Byron. I was told that he was starting last week already but no one arrived that was until today, Byron showed up. Welcome Byron, I hope that this will be a productive tenure for you. You are the first Byron to be featured in my blog, you welcome. Not sure if you a geek, but may the Force be with you.

Arriving At Work

 

The weather is improving, with rain holding out as I ride to work on my Vespa with the early morning sun still low in the sky. Using the Baroness to get to work is great unless it is raining. Firstly I fly through the traffic and secondly it uses a fraction of the fuel I would use if using my pickup.

But here I am early at work and I have time to reflect on my life. Things are tough at the moment, and my favourite song is playing through my head, "Even Me" by Mercy Me. I know it is one of the few things holding me together.

They say it only takes a little faith to move a mountain. Well good thing, a little faith is all I have, right now.

Empty Desk Syndrome

 

No wonder it poured yesterday, Taleesha resigned and is no more in the office. I am not sure what happened but when I arrived at work sopping wet from my ride in the torrential downpour, I found a very upset looking Snowflake. And next thing she had packed up her stuff and left.

Oh dear, now I have this empty desk syndrome today.

Snowflake's Birthday

 

It is Taleesha's birthday today, just as she reminded us on Friday so we won't forget. Flowers and chocolates arrived for the birthday snowflake and the one that I like the most are these orchids. She has now asked me twice already, how does one look after orchids.

Van

 

Hiya, this is Van aka Vanessa, our bookkeeper, who comes through to our offices once a month to do the invoices. Both Graham and Taleesha are off today so it is just Van and I in the office. Ahh the peace and quietness is such a blessing.

Old Age Pills

 

Really Taleesha, do I need these old age pills? I mean I don't suffer from Arthritis, Hearing loss, Wrinkles, Fading eyesight, or Memory loss? I might be older and wiser but I am not suffering from these.

Penny Sparkle

 

Penny from Sparkle Spa came round to our offices to give us all a well deserved back, head, and hand massages. Sparkle Spa is a mobile spa, where the ladies come to us, while we work. Now I feel much better, revitalised.

Stairway to Where

 

This week has been far too long. Woza Friday! Woza Weekend! I am tired at work and just want to go home and sleep. The day is dragging on, and all I've got to show for it is this staircase at work.

For Tanya

 

Graham disappear during the day and after a while arrived back in the offices with quite a few indoor plants in tow. After rearranging out offices, he then took some photos to show Tanya how nice and green our office now looks.

Better Hair Day

Compared with Taleesha's Bad Hair Day last Friday, Monday has been a better hair day for Taleesha, although she is suffering from the Winter chills. I still don't get bad or good hair days as it is so superficial. Oh maybe it is because I don't have hair on top of my crust. Bad Beard Day then?

Bad Hair Day

Well at least I don't have a bad hair day as Taleesha, shown here, is having this Friday, unless my untidy beard counts as unruly hair. Anyways enjoy your weekend.

Cinderleesha

We have rearranged our office and Taleesha decided to become Cinderella for the day and do a through spring cleaning. Armed with a mop, Cinderleesha began her cleanup and BOOM our office was clean again.

Sammy's Smile

It is always a pleasure to see Sammy from the Courier Guy as he is always smiling. Some people just know how to brighten up the day. The Courier Guy comes just about every day to our offices to pick up deliveries. 

Namdipha

Being in a small company there is not many people you meet on a daily basis hence not many people posts from my working day. But here is Namdipha, our char lady who keeps our offices spic and span. 

IT Crowd

Let me introduce our IT Crowd, well that is just Joshua himself, or as he likes to state that he runs the "Supply Chain Logistics". Uhmmm with that response you would think he works for the CIA. 

Josh have you tried turning it off and on again?

Applix

And finally the ecommerce website, Appix that I built from scratch is up and running. Wow over 400 professional broadcast equipment to manually upload and categorise all over. Now the client can do the rest. Just some fine tuning before handover and a training manual to create. I am officially tired. 

Breaking the Diet

The eCommerce site that I developed went live yesterday without any serious hiccups (check out Applix). The Graham did the transfer and he was so chuffed that it all just fell into place, so much so that Taleesha said that this means pizza tomorrow, hence Graham bought us pizza and at the same time broke his diet of healthy foods. 

I'm too on a diet, a Light Diet, yip you read correctly and it is not as in eating lite foods as you might think. It is that I can only eat by Day Light, Moon Light, and  Refrigerator Light.
