Concrete Women
I first posted about this group of concrete women in 2010 when I visited the Johannesburg Art Gallery last. And now I find myself back at JAG, this time for Ingress during my lunchtime. Here I was again standing here among beautiful artwork in the centre of downtown Johannesburg. The hum drum bustle of everyday street noise seems a lifetime away. I don’t know why I don't come here often anymore.
One of my favourite pieces of art work are these concrete women with no heads and arms. To me no heads means no personality. No arms means helplessness. They are just female bodies to be used and abused. BUT standing together these concrete women come across as STRONG. It is a powerful piece of art for me.
