Monday and the end of the month. Uhmmm my life is not looking so good, but oh well lets put my glasses back on . Ahhh that's better. All I can do is put all my worries at the foot of the cross because there is nothing that I can do to make it better. As I rub my eyes, trying to clear the fogginess, I remember that I must not worry about things which are out of my hands. Just put 1 foot in front of the next, 1 step at a time.

Visiting Rene
It is that time again, for our bi-annual visit to Aunt Rene, my father's sister. Matthew had to go back to Pretoria today as his holidays are over and it is back to university. My aunt lives in Pretoria so it was a perfect detour.

Rage Breakfast
Matthew has been going to Rage, the local computer show in Johannesburg, since he was a small boy, and now it has become an institution. It is Rage weekend and Matthew and I have our traditional breakfast at Wimpy before leaving him a Rage, only to pick him up afterwards. Those who knew me a long time ago, it looks like Matthew has picked up an old habit of mine, playing with hair, but surely it can't be from me.

Krispy Me
Ahhhh, my beard is getting a bit unruly and it is about time to correct the situation. Watch this space as I end the week with some tasty cheesecake Krispy Kreme doughnuts.

Sweet
Sweet fruit of mine, the naartjie. This small naartjie is part of my lunch today, small yet sweet. I'm getting a bit behind on my daily posts and now have to play catch up. I am still taking photos every day but to sit down and right a post is causing the problems.

Wors Braai
It is Heritage Day, and we celebrated by ending the day with a braai. So I cracked up the gas barbeque and put some wors on the grill, pour a smooth whiskey. They were some good wors rolls and the whiskey, aaaah.

Sands of Time
I don't know what happened but this post seemed to have slipped through the cracks like sands through time. I had to go back through all my photos looking for the photo that I had taken on this day and repost. Oh well here it is.

Colour me Purple
Colour me purple, this must be déjà vu, as I am sure I've posted this sunset before, see Indigo Dawn. It is one day at work Monday and tomorrow is a public holiday, Heritage Day. This means I can sleep in tomorrow, yay.

Choose Love
Coming out of Centre Church this morning, this mural caught my eye, Choose Love. The bright yellow wall certainly is eye catching, and yes we choose love.

Watching Rugby
Some time back we gave up DSTV, the local satellite pay TV, in favour for fibre and we never looked back. Well that is until now, as DSTV has the rights to the Rugby World Cup. The answer is for Matthew and I to go out to some sports bar and watch the rugby there.
It is South Africa vs New Zealand, Matthew and I found ourselves at Uncle Tim's Pub and Grill. A few good beers later and the Springboks lost.

Sands through the Hour Glass
Like sands through the hour glass, so are the days of our lives, are the words from a soapy from my youth. No I never watched it but I know women were fixated with soap operas. Now we have an hourglass at work filled with golden glitter and is only measures a few minutes instead of an hour.
My day at work has been not so good and I feel that it is time to start looking for something better than this. I feel my time in this season is running out.

Sunrise Drive
Matthew is writing his last exam of the term, so he is coming home for the holidays. Yay, I get to see him, so I don't mind using the pickup to work instead of the Vespa because he is catching the Gautrain to my office and the 2 of us on the Vespa with luggage is not cool, although it has been done before.
Anyways since I am using my pickup I managed to snap this photo along my route to the office this morning the the sunrise.

Penny Sparkle
Penny from Sparkle Spa came round to our offices to give us all a well deserved back, head, and hand massages. Sparkle Spa is a mobile spa, where the ladies come to us, while we work. Now I feel much better, revitalised.

Green Flowers
Forget Spring, Summer has arrived with vengeance. Okay not the summer thunderstorms, that is still to come, but the heat. Thank goodness I have aircon at the office, and on the ride home, I forgo the jacket and live for the ride not the slide.
As I arrived home after work, I noticed this flowering plant in my front garden, it had these green flowers which if memory is correct will turn to white later. Nice to be back home.

Eeek Split Ends
Monday morning, sitting at my desk, tagging my beard while deep in thought, when I noticed that I managed to pull a strand of beard out. What freaked me out the most was not that I am now loosing beard but that I have a split end, oh no nightmares. Bring on the beard oil.

Ruan and Mea
We have no electricity at home because of an scheduled power outage due to maintenance for most of the day so we had to leave the area totally just to have some civilised electricity. We ended up at Uncle Harry's Roadhouse in Randfontein for a Sunday lunch.
It looks like we stumbled upon a Pokemon convention, as there were Pokemon Go, players everywhere including the press. And of course there was my old friend Ruan from my Ingress days with his latest addition to his family, little Mea. It goes to show that it has been over 2 years since I saw them and nice to finally meet Mea.

Unfurling Bottlebrush
The temperatures are starting to rise with the mercury just about hitting the 30°C mark. The summer rains still have to come and the flowers are all starting to prepare for the wet hot summer. Here is a bottlebrush tree's flowers starting to unfurl in anticipation.

Just you Dare
"Daddy's Home" and Minky rushes to greet me as I crash onto the couch. Thank goodness it is weekend even if it is Friday the 13th but that doesn't excuse me trying to be rough with my cat. "Just continue and you will feel the wrath of my claw."

Stairway to Where
This week has been far too long. Woza Friday! Woza Weekend! I am tired at work and just want to go home and sleep. The day is dragging on, and all I've got to show for it is this staircase at work.

Melancholy
The poet Emily Dickerson wrote
With narrow, probing, eyes
I wonder if it weighs like mine
Or has an easier size
An air of melaincholia is surrounding me. This black bile is starting to get thick. Robert Burton once wrote "he that increaseth wisdom, increaseth sorrow", wow that is deep, me thinks. Or did he borrow this from the Bible, Ecclesiastes 1:18 to be exact "For much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief". Talk about the Tree of Knowledge from the Garden of Eden.
Or did it just begin
I could not tell the date of mine
It feels so old a pain
I wonder if it hurts to live
And if they have to try
And whether – could they choose between
It would not be – to die
I note that some – gone patient long
At length, renew their smile
An imitation of a light
That has so little oil
I wonder if when years have piled
Some thousands – on the harm
That hurt them early – such a lapse
Could give them any balm
Or would they go on aching still
Through centuries of nerve
Enlightened to a larger pain
In contrast with the love
The grieved – are many – I am told
There is the various cause
Death – is but one – and comes but once
And only nails the eyes
There's grief of want – and grief of cold
A sort they call "Despair"
There's banishment from native eyes
In sight of native air
And though I may not guess the kind
Correctly – yet to me
A piercing comfort it affords
In passing calvary
To note the fashions – of the cross
And how they're mostly worn
Still fascinated to presume
That some – are like my own
When I was young and full of folly, melancholy was but a thing. Now it embraces. Oh so close.

Spring Tree
Spring is defiantly in the air. The days are getting warmer and longer with the sounds of the bees and the birds everywhere. This tree is full of white blossoms and a buzz with bees, which reminds me that I would like to get my own beehive someday. Hopefully in the near future. Oh well let the week begin.

I can eat if I want to
It was Dakotah's 1st birthday during the week just gone, and a unicorn birthday party was arranged for today, as if she hasn't been celebrating all week already. Mommy and daddy jointly made an awesome unicorn rainbow cake.
Did someone say cake? Hurry up with the singing and kisses and all. Did you know that unicorns are mentioned in the Bible? No well they are, and they are the national animal of Scotland. And unicorns poop rainbows hence the cake is a rainbow cake, so there. Talking about cake, it's my party and I can eat if I want to...

Matthew's Lights
I had some work to do for clients this weekend so after running around in the morning, I set up my laptop at Matthew's desk and got stuck in. Quite a few hours later I realised that I have forgotten once again to take a photo for the day, so looking around I spotted the lights above my head, okay there you go, here are the lights in Matthew's room.

For Tanya
Graham disappear during the day and after a while arrived back in the offices with quite a few indoor plants in tow. After rearranging out offices, he then took some photos to show Tanya how nice and green our office now looks.

Midweek Cat Nap
It is midweek, and I arrived home mentally exhausted. I am tired, life has not been good to me. I collapsed onto my bed for a catnap only to open my eyes a few minutes later to find Minky lying next to me. Do you see what happens when you kiss the cat. Oh well I better get up and start supper.

Kiss the Cat
Minky, one of our cats, just loves her daddy, and can't wait for daddy to come back home from work to give her full attention.

Watching over our neighbourhood
Does anyone remember Squad Cars, a radio drama brought to our South African radios from the late 60s to the early 80s by General Motors. "The story you are about to hear is true. Details are supplied from the official case files by the South African Police. Only names and places have been changed to protect innocent people involved." These words that caused my dad to turn up the radio on a Friday evening.
Today we hardly see any police cars patrolling our streets anymore and local Community Police Forums have filled that gap of our neighbourhoods safe. Here are 3 locals we keep watch, AJ one of the Roodekrans Neighbourhood Watch patrollers, Marga from ER24, and Sam from the RNW Ops Room.

Baby it's cold outside
Yes the 1 September, the first day of Spring, has for most times been cold and today has not disappointed as can be seen how warm Lance has dressed. Now where is my latte?
